This traditionally Japanese garment has been seen on celebrities such as Nicole Richie and Miley Cyrus on the red carpet and on the catwalk for Spring/Summer 2012. Luckily for us it has sparked interest onto the streets with our favourite retailers following suit such as H&M, Topshop and Boohoo to name a few.

The kimono translated literally means a 'thing to wear' but this traditional T-shaped straight-lined robe, usually worn to the ankle, is a great alternative to a cardigan or lightweight jacket - making it perfect for the upcoming spring weather.
Adding a kimono jacket to your wardrobe is a great investment, it is a perfect and easy way to style up several kinds of outfit, whether it be from jeans and a tee or a special occasion LBD. It is excellent for mix and matching outfits and comes in many different fabrics and patterns. If you, like me can't afford the prices of Anna Sui s/s 2012 collection kimono's (seen on Nicole Richie) try this Navy velvet kimono jacket from topshop at a special price of £45, or if your wallet wont stretch that far H&M are offering a satin style kimono jacket with flower print at a reasonable £14.99. Or if you are still not keen on the price take a look at this bargain on website, the lacey print veletene style found in the sale for £8 is too good to give a miss! I liked it so much I bought it myself for my New Years Eve party outfit! I wore it with a simple black bodycon sweetheart neckline dress and grey suede platforms. Team any kimono with a black leather bag like this one on Bag So Beautiful for a generous £18.99 and you'll resemble the celebrity look perfectly!
