OOTD: crown and glory

Posted by Unknown On 11:52 15 comments

Major selfie right there.
I can't help it though as this is most favouritist (not a word) new hair accessory! I've heard a lot of good things about Crown and Glory and seen lots of bloggers sporting the floral crown such as one of my favourite reads she wears fashion. But never tried it myself, until I was able to choose a piece of jewellery from My Flash Trash, who I am brand ambassador for! (seriously go check the site, it's full of goodies!) and as soon as I saw Crown and Glory in the list of designers I jumped up and down with excitement! (not literally, but in my head) and couldn't wait for it to arrive at my door. I think I will definitely be purchasing one for summer as when I have this on I literally never wanna take it off!

Afternoon all! (title quote was Theodore Roosevelt if anyones interested) I'm sorry this is another webcam selfie type picture post but I'm back at uni now so don't have a great camera with me. Although loans went in today and I am contemplating getting a DSLR for my birthday, but that's another post!

This post is to let you all now about an amazing new jewellery piece I've got my hands on! This brand needs little introduction in the blogging world as before I was approached, I had admired the beautifully delicate pieces online via many of my favourite fashion blogs for a while!
The brand I'm talking about is Delilah Dust. They are a small business selling delicate and unique jewellery, I was lucky enough to be contacted by the lovely Antonia and sent my favourite pieces!

Planet necklace* - £3.50 (available here)
Planet bracelet* - £3.50 (available here)

I was particularly eager to own this planet symbol set from Delilah Dust because ever since I can remember I have always been interested in astronomy. It sounds silly but my favourite book to read when I was little was a set of history style books and one of them was a 2 inch thick planets manual. If only I had listened abit more in Science back in school... who knows what I could be doing now!
But my interest in the stars these days stretches just as far as drooling over George Clooney in the space movie Solaris and reading my horoscope daily.
I was never christened and my family are atheist, so I've been bought up to have an open mind about religion and make my own decisions. Having this necklace around my neck now has as much relevance to me as a cross does to a christian, if I have any kind of faith it's in the stars. I'm a heavy believer of all that horoscope stuff. I do believe in star signs. I find it fascinating how, when I read my daily horoscope before bed, it's exactly how my day has been! I know some people will argue but it's kinda special to me.
Anyway, this post has got a little deep hasn't it?! Back to the jewellery...

These items are still on the website if anyone fancies owning the pair! (Sold separately) The bracelet comes with an adjustable leather cord in a range of colours but as you can see I've chosen turquoise. The necklace has a 16inch chain and both are silver plated. They come free shipping in the UK and everywhere else it's free when you buy more than one item (jewellery alone will be £3 shipping), and sometimes they offer free gifts when making a purchase over a certain amount via the facebook page, so like that for freebie opportunities! Also, I have the brands badge on my page offering a 10% discount for bloggers! So if you fancy getting a great deal then use bloggers10 at the checkout!

They are incredibly cheap considering how beautiful they are and I'm not sure if you can tell from my photos but they lay perfectly on the skin and stand out! I've been wearing them ever since I got them last week and have already had a few comments about them! So I'm very pleased, and will definitely be starting a collection soon!

disclaimer* This is in no way a sponsored post, I am giving my own honest opinion/review on the items I have been gifted by Delilah Dust.

So you may have seen my recent eBay purchases post which had a similar hat to this in black on it. Well, this is the same hat, but the eBay seller in Hong Kong decided he didn't want me to have the black version and be like everyone else, so sent me a wine red coloured bowler hat instead without asking my permission. At first I was angry, then I tried it on and thought, "oh wait I actually like this" and decided not to leave the seller negative feedback, as he subsequently has added this new favourite accessory into my life. The wine red bowler hat (mmm wine)

I wasn't sure at first, as wine red was very 'in' last season. I remember wanting a similar coloured coat and trousers from Topshop but never took the plunge, I was definitely too late for the burgandy phase of winter. But at least I can save this one if ever it comes back into fashion.
Thinking about it, black is the safer choice BUT everyones got a black bowler hat now right? (except me.. sob) so I'm deciding this is 'the new thing'. I will wear my unwanted wine red bowler hat with pride! It did only cost me £4.98 after all...

(I really don't understand how the Chinamen made any money from this! It was sent airmail and delivered within a week, crazy!) If you'd like one the wine red and black are currently sold out, but save the seller and I'm sure they will come back into stock very soon, they have other colours too! I'm tempted by the pale pink and the camel version, but I'm currently watching a camel coat on eBay so maybe too much camel is... too much.

In other news, I've decided to smarten up my appearance (hence the hat) and that goes without saying about my Bestival wristband that still lingers on my wrist.

It's been 7 months since I was rocking out to Friendly Fires, rapping along to Wiley and getting low to Stevie Wonder, it's time I let go. I finally took the plunge and cut it off.
After reading Robyn's post about the Bestival Benefit I actually shed a tear whilst reading it, anyone that went to Bestival last year or has attended a festival in general should have a read, it's so upsetting and makes me thankful that I am still here but my heart really does go out to the families of the ones that died in the crash. It's amazing what Rob da Bank has put together in aid of the ones lost.
Truely heartfelt! Sorry to end on a down note :( but here's a song to uplift you all...

CAMO V FAUX FUR

Posted by Unknown On 17:45 0 comments

Layered up for uni today, wearing my trusty camo jacket from urban outfitters mens sale with my favourite faux fur stole from h&m a couple years ago, definitely worth investing in one every winter as they last a lifetime and look great with any coat/jacket!
Today we had a seminar where we looked into feminism and talked about how women are perceived by men in the way they dress and how it affects their behaviour, to be honest I don't have that much interest in feminism, I think men and women are equal in terms that we are the same species, but everyone was made different! People don't like to be defined by gender or 'labelled' but it's a scientific, anatomical fact that we ladies, are the weaker sex, no matter how powerful Beyonce' lyrics are it is a fact. Which is why I like the way I have dressed today, I embrace the fact as a female I can choose to mix male dominated clothes with feminine clothes, like today for instance wearing a jacket designed for a man and a symbolic women's accessory.
Fashion has taken a great leap and people just need to get over it and be themselves wearing whatever makes them feel comfortable, if you don't like the way a man looks at you, either cover yourself up or give him a slap!

PLAYING AROUND

Posted by Unknown On 19:38 2 comments

Weirdest mood ever leads to playing with my hair straigheners whilst getting ready to go out tonight, usually my "fringe" is the most hated part of my body (bar wobbly bits) and I've been contemplating a fringe for a while now, but never plucked the courage, I always admire the 50s lookylikey girls about these days and tried the rolled fringe and i'm amazed I actually did it right! hello fringey.
not here to stay though im afraid

(I apologise for the super posey, underweary, boring post)

BAROQUE

Posted by Unknown On 15:17 0 comments
I bought some new leggings the other day on a impulse sprint around New look, I hardly ever shop there anymore (because I was forced to chop up my store card) and found this beauty in the sale for £9! I know baroque came into fashion last summer(?) but didnt really stick around for very long, I hated them at first and as soon as I tried them on, I fell in love! I think its the mixture of the leopard print and gold that won me over, as i've seen some pretty nasty blue, green and pink ones about that have put me off!
I also bought a basic crop tee in a soft blue colour which was really cute! usually go to h&m or topshop for my basic tees but this one caught my eye! cheeky vain photo down below too, forgive me.

Me and my housemates decided to go on a shopping spree today as were going out tonight for the first time since we have been back from christmas, which seems crazy! Also didnt realise they have Elmo climbing a christmas tree haha opps. I also got a oversized white tee with a black cross on it, some navy velvet high waisted shorts, a Bruce Springsteen sleeveless top (all pictured below) and 2 pairs of knickers from the lingerie sale! £100 spent in a matter of hours...

Black sheer sleeveless blouse - New look - £14.99

Navy velvet shorts - Topshop sale - £15

Oversized white tee - Topshop - £22
