So I've been meaning to do this post for ages, but better late than never! If you've only just started following me (hi! and thanks!!) then you might not know about the internship I'm starting next monday, see post here. I've been trawling the internet for bloggers post's on 'what to wear as an intern' but all I'm getting is 'how not to dress for interviews/summer interns' and that isn't the inspiration I need! So I put myself to the test, after many hours at my macbook I have searched every sale on the high street and failed to find what I'm looking for :( In my head I've got some patterned high waisted tapered trousers, cropped to show off my topshop brogues, with a loose fine knit tshirt and either a slouchy blazer or a leather jacket and some statement gold jewellery. But where am I going to find that on a budget?

Here's what I found instead...
I already own the topshop brogues and the h&m leather jacket, but tomorrow after uni I am going on the hunt for some decent fitting black jeans (mine are the wrong kind of cropped atm) I know I would fall in love with a pair in Topshop but I can't afford £40 on a pair of jeans, after paying all my rent I'm literally left with about £100! minus the beef bhuna and carbonara me and joe ate last night at the slug and lettuce... uh oh! So I'll probably stick to H&M or Primark for those.
I know Topshop have that black split side tee in white in the sale for £8, so hopefully it's still there and I can pair that with my black jeans for a cool-casual look! I'm lusting after a black and white tshirt at the moment too after seeing all the s/s13 monochrome features! That would go perfect with the black jeans too. I really like the khaki cut out shoulder blouse from h&m too, I think it must be new in because I haven't seen it in our shop yet! That with some funky floral trousers would be great on my 'first day'! The black and white striped blouse from H&M is a steal at £12.99 (£9.74 for me) and can be worn underneath a knitted marl jumper like the burgandy one I have here!
I have decided blue is the colour I'm going to paint my nails, as it's a confident/power colour right? And now the student loans are in I'm going to treat myself to my last batch of expensive makeup before my birthday, including a couple Topshop lipsticks, I want to try out this Fawn, as well as Nevada and Whimsical!
The bag is a must have treat! It's from H&M again but we've been sold out for weeks so I'm praying the delivery man likes our store and brings us more so I can take it with me! I'm loving all these collar necklaces too, I'm pretty sure I will go to Primark for all of these unless Topshop/Miss Selfridge have some nice ones in the sale!
If you've done a 'intern:what to wear' post or know anyone that has PLEASE let me know! Would be nice to get some inspiration from people who have already done it!

I did an internship in a famous tourist place in London. It wasn't a fashion-related one, but looking the part was really important. Your personality should shine through your clothes (whether it's a necklace or a fave bag), but it's better to feel comfortable with what you've got on.
Cute oversized jumpers would be good, and with a shimmering collar underneath to make it look less casual would look great! Oh, and flat shoes would be good too. I make the mistake of wearing brand new wedges on my first day and stubbed my foot on the stone floors!

i'd go for black/grey oversized t-shirt/jumper, slim fit trousers and studded flats i think...then see what others are wearing and work around it :) good luck! x
