If you follow my Instagram you'll know that I attended Graduate Fashion Week last Monday representing the company I'm interning with MPDClick, I got to see the amazing International show and had my write up published on the MPDClick trend journal, have a read!!
Day two of Graduate Fashion Week in London successfully kicked off yesterday with the ‘International Show’. Here, international students from around the globe present their unique collections for industry professionals, fellow students and friends and family.
The show featured an array of male and female looks inspired by structured armour, the Middle East and Oriental influences. The Esmod School in Berlin were first to walk the catwalk with the most number of graduates showcasing – Anna Wilhelmina and Carmina Blank’s unique collections blended female enhancement and armour, using coloured panels to elongate the body and add an element of female empowerment to the collections.
Mimar Sinan, a Fine Arts graduate from Turkey took to the catwalk with barefoot models. Sheer panelled dresses revealed intricate skeletal, boned frames finished in black, white and nude tones. Istituto Marangoni, Milan, graduate Gilda Ambrosio referred to traditional, Oriental shapes and patterns teamed with unconventional silhouettes to create a futuristic feel.
The highlight of the showcase had to be graduate Michael Maiello from the Fashion Institute of Technology ‘Italy’. This particular student stole the show with his contrasting ‘his and her’ designs, with several of the looks made up of patchwork prints and frivolous sheer trimmings, a perfect combination of texture. Overall it was a great presentation of international talent, all university pages can be found on the GFW website, here.
