International online fashion trend reporters FashionChick are running a blogger competition offering an all expenses paid trip to Amsterdam Fashion Week 2014!

FashionChick is a website dedicated to finding the latest fashion trends and news and offers visitors the opportunity to browse and shop from all the best online clothing, shoes and accessory stores! Which is exactly how I found some of the items shown in my entry. Of course the first thing to worry about when entering a competition like this is not "Will I win?" but... "What am I going to wear?!" which is why I kept my entry simple yet stylish and very 'me'.

After keeping updated with FashionChicks fashion news section I noticed that metallic's are a trend to watch out for over the festive period. I am obsessed with this metallic gold leather look pencil skirt from River Island that I've teamed with a recent eBay bargain I found this 'Vogue' print top was only £7! To keep warm in Amsterdam during January (average temperatures ranging from lowest 1c and highest 5c - I checked!) I'll definitely be wearing the thickest, fluffiest faux fur coat I can find! I was linked to this Pull & Bear hooded faux fur coat through the FashionChick website, a great price at £59.99 and practical for winter!

The accessories chosen really make the outfit with the black ASOS clutch with gold detailing highlights the metallic gold trend, alongside the red-herring chunky gold necklace and understated cubic Zirconia stoned Madison earrings from Coast make a classic lady like statement. It's difficult to decide on a pair of shoes that will keep you stylish throughout Fashion Week and comfortable at the same time, but I've struck gold with these H&M platform shoes (currently sold out online, but I already have them!) as they are the comfiest boots I have and look great too! A touch of Mac cosmetics lipstick in 'Divine Night' shade and I'm sorted!

You may remember my post for Money Supermarket back in February called Whats in your pocket? Well they've come up with another way for us lucky bloggers to win some more money and share are money saving ways! Because lets face it, if I wasn't for those deals and sales we all love we wouldn't have anything to blog about would we? (well I definitely wouldn't!)

Also, you might not be aware that it was the 30th Anniversary of the £1 coin on the 21st of April, that little golden nugget I have wandering around the bottom of my purse is 10 years older than me! Wowza. Anyway, the aim of the game is, Money Supermarket are looking for 1,000 ways to save £1 and what better people to ask than us bloggers? Everyone can get involved, the more responses they get they have agreed to DOUBLE the prize fund! Which would total at £2,000 for just one lucky blogger! If you want in (and let's face it why wouldn't you!) then here's how you can get involved:

Each blogger has to give up to 30 ways to save money and they are going to give every person £1 for each money-saving tip! Once you have given away 30 of your money saving tips and secrets share them on the 30 ways to save page and email the link to your post plus your Paypal details to  competitions@moneysupermarket.com. to get your money before the 17th of May! Simples!

Now that stuffs out the way, here are my entries to the competition!

  1. Don't be so materialist, buy smart price beans they taste just as good as heinz!
  2. ALWAYS check groupon before going out to dinner, they always have amazing offers from good name restaurants to save you some money!
  3. Take a student shopping with you, abuse their discount!
  4. Buy all of your hair products from poundland, seriously! They stock some of the top brands and all for a pound?! you can see some of the amazing names I picked up from my trip here.
  5. Want a particular top you saw in last week but can't afford the price tag? Check ebay before you buy! I SWEAR BY IT! most things start at 99p so grab a bargain!
  6.  Always left with too much pasta? Don't throw it away, stick it in a plastic container and freeze it for tomorrows lunch!
  7. Go veggie, I can't stand the prices of meat so I mix my diet up a bit with some quorn now and then! It's nicer than you think!
  8. If you're a student like me, you can't afford the microsoft office/adobe packages, make sure you download free trials before splashing out, because if you can't use it, it's not worth buying! Try before you buy is the best motto!
  9. ALWAYS CHECK THE SALE BEFORE GOING FULL PRICE
  10. Living in student accommodation? Chip in together for cleaning products! You won't need 3L of bleach but between 7 of you, you will!
  11. I'm proper anal in our house about switching off the plugs before bed, save electricity so you can spend extra money on clothes! (of course)
  12. Want a new skirt, hate an old dress? Get the scissors out darling and chop them up!
  13. Don't even think about joining a gym, their fee's are extortionate and if you've never been before it's likely you'll love it for the first 2 weeks then it becomes a chore, do light exercises at home little and often!
  14. Get a boots advantage card! The amount of meal deals I buy on my work lunch means after about 10 trips I can use my points to get a free lunch! (whoever said theres no such thing as a free meal was lying)
  15. Leave the debit card alone. Take cash out and only take what you need, if you don't have the money on you, decide later if you really need it!
  16. Grab any kind of loyalty card you can - Nandos, Boots, Superdrug, Varsity, Subway, Sainsburys etc
  17. Take a packed lunch to work, when you tot up how much of your hard earned cash you're spending on that macdonalds that made you feel sick anyway you will actually be sick!
  18. Use the limbs your mother gave you and walk everywhere, don't waste petrol if it's in walking distance!
  19. When you and your friends go on adventures always check the group save option, it'll save you lots!
  20. Get a friend to help you dye your hair with a £5 box from Boots, I've stopped going to hairdressers to get my hair done now, £70 for a full head colour is not on!
  21. Save the little sachets of makeup in magazines, because when your foundation runs out and you haven't got enough to face the world with the next day you've got extras!
  22. Take a bottle of water with you everywhere you go, I refuse to pay for water from the shop! Tap water is free!
  23. Use free social networking sites before putting anything up on ebay, you never know your friend might have seen you in a particular outfit and would happily buy it off you without you having to pay seller fee's!
  24. Keep a jar for coppers, money is money at the end of the day and it will mount up when you add to it! Noone likes breaking a note!
  25. Check online sites for deals on postage, there is always a code!
  26. Don't you just hate card payment fee's when buying food online? Save money by ordering your takeway with cash
  27. Contridicting the one above, don't order takeaway! Use that soup in the cupboard and don't gain the extra pounds!
  28. Take a list with you when you go food shopping, theres no fun in buying more milk than you need and having the throw them both out when they go out of date before you've finished them!
  29. Don't buy milk at all, have a black coffee! Good for your diet as well as your bank balance
  30. Don't give in to the mothers/fathers/valentines day occasions, make something homemade and show the person you care!

Well those are my entries! Have you got any money saving tips I've never heard of? Do share!

NEW URL

Posted by Unknown On 13:29 0 comments
Hi Guys! As of today, I will be changing the name of my URL, I'm not sure how this is going to affect my views/followers but I thought I'd put it out there now!

New url will be missbaigent.blogspot.com

Will probably take me a few days to change everything on every platform but hopefully it will be a smooth transition! I just think it's about time I took my name out of my url and focused on making my blog more of a brand.

P.S Congrats to the winner of my Burberry perfume giveaway Lucy from Fine and Bambi!

CHINA DOLL BOUTIQUE

Posted by Unknown On 19:29 9 comments

So I was recently contacted by the lovely Nhuc Tran owner of online boutique China Doll Boutique to take part in their blogger competition to celebrate the launch of the new website last week.
The idea is that you pick a China Doll Boutique item, which I then have to style an outfit around up to the value of £200 and the shortlisted 15 favourites will be up for vote on facebook and the winner wins the WHOLE outfit! If you want to know more about the competition you can do so via the website here.

Untitled #60

1. China Doll Boutique - Sasha Monochrome Spot Top - £10
2. American Apparel - Shiny nylon tricot leggings in serpent - £34
3. H&M - Dusty pink bowler hat - £7.99
4. River Island - Eyelash oversized cardigan in black - £38
5. Topshop - Katz cut out strap shoe - £75
7. Topshop - Carved rose pearl bracelet - £5

TOTAL = £174.99

With a £200 maximum budget I was in my element to find my most coveted items about at the moment online and on the high street. I knew as soon as I saw the top I wanted it, so if I don't win the competition I will certainly be purchasing it after! It's bang on trend as monochrome and polkadots are everywhere at the moment, the lightweight fit makes it a day to night wear during the summer too!

The monochrome and neon combination has had huge success on the catwalks so I want in, wearing this with some shiny serpent green american apparel leggings is my absolute dream, an outfit that can be worn to lounge, layer or even go out in! Luckily the top is so versatile I'd love to staple it into my wardrobe! Seeing as it's nearly summer, I'm getting pink vibes again and this pale pink bowler hat is a perfect adornment and lovely colour clash with the leggings!
If I were to layer it in the cooler temperatures I would definitely be using the black eyelash cardigan from River Island as it looks super cosy and I love the eyelash texture, usually seen on lingerie it gives it that ultra feminine feel! I'm sure if you're a regular reader of my blog you've seen these Topshop cut out strap shoes on many a wishlist, at £75 they are pretty expensive but worn with this outfit they are extremely worth it! The pale blue lace socks add extra texture to the shoes and look cute and girly! I'm really into clashing colours at the moment, bright pastels are a definite for me this summer! Last but not least this simple accessory from Topshop, the rose in the bracelet picks out the pale pink in the hat and the pearls add a whimsical touch to this outfit.

What do you think? I really hope I win, I've never been so excited for a competition!

Check out China Doll Boutiques website here and follow them on twitter here.

WHAT'S IN YOUR POCKET?

Posted by Unknown On 21:22 6 comments

Happy Valentines day beauts!

So recently I was contacted by Money supermarket who offered me the chance to enter their competition to spend £20 on whatever I fancied, on the condition I had to find an outfit that had a feel good money saving factor and as my readers will know... I'm a massive fan of getting more for my money! So I jumped at the chance as I also love a challenge!

They recently came up with a feel-good experiment which involved setting up hidden cameras in a busy dry cleaners and telling customers they’d left a £20 note in their pocket by mistake and their reactions were caught on camera!
You can have a look at the video here: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/epic/pocket-some-extra-cash/
It just goes to show how good life’s ‘little wins’ can make you feel and we’ve all experienced the momentary joy of finding money in our pockets or an old purse that we didn’t know was there which is why this challenge is so great in celebrating saving money and hopefully sharing the feeling with my readers!

This competition is open to the most creative bloggers in the fashion community, so I was extremely happy to be chosen to take part! Once everyone has entered their £20 spends, moneysupermarket will choose the most creative blogger that has really embraced the idea of saving money and feeling good and will win £200 prize!

So this is what I can do with £20, imagine what I'd be like with £200?! My first thought was, I have to go to the charity shops, my favourite place at the moment and where I find all my bargains, but I also had an event called the Re:So fashion boot sale to attend so I could mix up my finds abit! My money saving and feel good concept is definitely recycling, nothing brings me more joy than getting new preloved clothes and doing something good by donating to charity at the same time! I hope you like...

200 FOLLOWERS GIVEAWAY!

Posted by Unknown On 20:00 21 comments
So this post is a little delayed, as I reached 200 followers about a week ago!
But finally got round to hosting my giveaway for it, I had a few ideas but I thought this one was perfect. So as you know I've been interning with designer lingerie brand Myla London label, and being a thifty bargain hunter it's completely out of my comfort zone (and price zone!) but I've really loved having my eyes opened to all the luxurious quality pieces on Bond St and in Harrods and Selfridges department stores, and I know most of you can't afford the designer labels either, so I thought I'd do a little giveaway in the form of a Burberry fragrance eau de parfum 4.5ml.

It has a beautifully warm and sophisticated woody/floral scent and this classic fragrance was launched in 1995, created by perfumer Michel Almairac. It has been described as a 'charming' fragrance, so who wants to give it a go?!

The rules are simple, just fill in the rafflecopter form and you MUST be a follower of my blog (I will check!) and this is open to UK residents only as postage outside of UK is too risky/pricey! (sorry)

MARYJANE FASHION COMPETITION

Posted by Unknown On 00:22 4 comments
This competition, hosted by the Mary Jane Fashion facebook page, is your chance to win a blouse/knitwear combo of your choice from the leading celebrity style website Mary Jane Fashion. Here is my entry...

MARYJANE FASHION COMPETITION

Due to the nature of the brand, I went for a celebrity that I aspire to, and naturally if you're gonna go with a pop collar under knitwear, you need a pop colour in my eyes, and this fuchsia pink is Jameela Jamil all over, her chic celebrity edgy style can pull off any sheer studded collared blouse like this one, with it's shoulder-less detail and the high quality chiffon material, combined with the dip hi-low hem to back, will work perfectly with the oversized fisherman chunky cable knit jumper as it will reveal the blouses evening/party versatility and floaty qualities.
Jameela is never without her trusty black eyeliner flicks and bright lipstick so this look isn't complete without it, I would finish the look with some chunky gold jewellery, a black bowler hat (Jameela's signature look) wet look leggings and either chelsea boots or converse!

Click the link now for your chance to enter the competition, but be quick it ends in 5 days time!   http://bit.ly/U6xwjm

PRADA AND CHELSEA BOOTS*

Posted by Unknown On 14:00 5 comments
Just wanted to say thanks to all you lovely new followers, I've finally hit the 200 mark! YAY! once my Babycham giveaway has finished I will be doing a 200 followers giveaway so stay tuned!

This is a little delayed post as I got these last week but I'd like to introduce to you my new babies, take a look at these! I very generously received a £50 amazon gift certificate for a post I did for the Daxon blogger network, and I chose to spend it wisely! These high heel chelsea boots were a steal at £19.99 as the boots are real leather and very comfortable! I can already tell I'll be wearing these everyday, and although I didn't pay for them they are unbelievably good priced considering Topshop sell them for double!

They come in tan too but I decided on the black. Really sorry about the over-editing on these pictures, I've finally replaced the batteries in my digital camera and I'm so used to Instagram that I can't help adding filters to anything as it's ingrained in me that everything looks better filtered! And who doesn't like bokeh come on..

I also spoilt myself with some Prada perfume, It's only a tiny bottle as I hadn't tried it before but it cost quite a bit! £4.99 but that didn't include postage so that took a good £7/8 off my gift card, but it was worth it because the smell is adorable, so fruity and fresh! I feel so feminine wearing it, although eau de parfum I find doesn't take well to my skin, I prefer eau de toilette, anyone feel the same?

OH MY LOVE LONDON

Posted by Unknown On 12:35 4 comments

Well, I'm not! But she is, and I want to be. Oh My Love is a London fashion brand bringing you a beautiful mix of Parisian and English designs making your wardrobe full of colour and character! (Hence Miss Baigent aka me being a quarter french, I love this brand!)

Oh My Love's founder, Anne Lombard, started her adventure into creating the much loved label Oh My Love from her home in France. Bringing her french roots to England Anne began sourcing, buying and selling vintage which she then evolved into creating her own designs and setting up her own boutique label, selling in markets. Quickly recognised as a unique and fashion forward label Oh My Love left the markets, packed up and travelled down to the fashion capital with all the glitz and glamour and was launched in Oxford Street's Topshop where it is now a fashion force to be reckoned with!

The reason I'm writing this blog post is to let you all know about the competition Oh My Love are running at the moment and how you can be in with a chance to win an outfit of your choice and a Benefit Make-up goodie bag! All you have to do is like the facebook page http://on.fb.me/QxlkJr and follow the rafflecopter instructions to earn more entries! It's that simple.

BABYCHAM GIVEAWAY

Posted by Unknown On 10:36 9 comments
Now we all remember Babycham don't we? I used to live in my pair of sneakers day in day out summer of 2006, but then I got all girly and started going to parties so had to wear the trendiest leopard print pumps or converse to college and said goodbye to my beloved Babychams (they went to a good home though, good ol' charity shops).
Although, after a recent competition by Toni and Fashion Your Seatbelts I was reunited with my old love in the form of a competition to win these Aquarius t-bar court shoes worth £50! There were 3 designs to choose from but this picture won me over with the quirky striped heel. When you enter a competition, you never expect to actually win! And with over 186 entries I managed to get it in the bag!

Image taken from fashion your seatbelts.

It was announced on January 1st that I had won the shoes and I literally squealed with excitement! Babycham offered me the chance to team up with them in a competition of my own, I was flipping through the new Babycham catalogue when I came across these beauties worth £55! The Jupiter platform wedge, the fit is unbelievably comfy and features a rounded toe with a shiny textile upper (this is what made my decision! anything glittery or shiny gets my vote) and I love the contrast of the polka dot fabric trim/heel on each shoe!

There are two styles to choose from, I personally have the metallic purple and haven't taken them off since I got them! But the red pair are equally as perfect with the monchrome polka dot wedge that will make you stand out from the crowd! Did I mention they are SUPER comfy?!

To enter this giveaway you need to be a UK resident (sorry guys!), please make sure you're following MISS BAIGENT on GFC and then follow the instructions below! A winner will be chosen at random on the 30th of January. Good luck!

#NEXTGUESTBLOGGER

Posted by Unknown On 18:55 0 comments

The Next guest blogger competition is back! and I was very kindly offered the chance to enter. The competition is offering the chance to win three outfits each up to the value of £150 at Next and the opportunity to guest post about my own style picks on the Next Blog. To enter, I had to answer the question 'What key SS13 trends are you most looking forward to wearing?'

#NEXTGUESTBLOGGER

Obviously my first thought about summer would include Bikinis! I hunted high and low last summer to find a high waisted bikini bottom but had no luck, now I know where to go this year! Next's spring summer collection has this wonderful floral two piece, that keeps the tummy under control but also looks fabulously stylish on! Florals will always be a big trend in the summer so I know this will be an investment piece!

This spring/summer for me will all be about midi dresses and baggy jumpers, this black dippy hem midi dress is perfect under this tie dye tape sweater, khaki is bang on trend in Next's spring summer lookbook. Matched with the monochrome statement jewellery and this mono weave floppy hat I'll be oozing that fresh faced Millie Macintosh from Made In Chelsea look. Yellow is a strong accent in this years spring summer trends, which is why I chose this citrine formal scarf to spice up my neutral look, drapped over my shoulders will make this outfit super cool and classy!. A sinched in waist to turn this oversized look feminine can be done with this black and white link belt, it is thin enough to go unnoticed but give a stylish comlimenting effect. No girl is complete without her rose gold watch these days and this beauty completes the outfit, who wouldn't want a DKNY watch on their wrist! The Tan pocket satchel is also a finishing touch, satchels have been in fashion each and every summer for the last few years now with no sign of ever going out of fashion! The tan matches the summer look perfectly. Last but not least, I couldn't decide between the floral slipper and the tan peeptoe ballerinas... so I chose both! The floral ones match the swimwear and the tan ballerinas match the rest of the outfit and what else could we put in the satchel when there's room for another pair of shoes!

I hope you liked my picks, let me know what you think and will you be adopting this look for summer? For a chance of entering visit the Next blog website here and link back with your creations!

All their designs are hand drawn and printed in-house and incorporate all the creativity imagination they can squeeze out of their constantly (and sometimes a little loopy!) minds!'

This is a bit of a belated post, it should have gone up before christmas but due christmas activities (and lots of chocolate eating) and delayed postage, I haven't had time to do it. So if you saw my post on instagram, apologies!

Cellardoor magazine were hosting a giveaway courtesy of The Little Deer  at the end of November this year and I entered the competition thinking 'I'll never win, but here goes' and by luck of the draw I actually won! The prize was a cropped kitty cat tee by Hero & Cape, I entered because I thought the cat was so cute and I've been supporting the cellardoor mag ever since I started my course at Southampton Solent University as it is a magazine run by ex-solent students.
The Little deer have some great other stuff too check them out!
