kiss like daisy x

This is a scheduled post* as I've been super pre-occupied with work/life related problems at the moment so bare with me!

On a brighter note, the lovely ladies at Kiss Like Daisy got in contact with me and asked to send me some samples from their handmade women's accessory boutique, naturally I scanned the website beforehand and I was very excited to see what they would send me - their website is so clean and fresh, the photography is on point and the products looked fab! So I jumped at the chance, a matter of days later I received a bunch of items through my door...

all this maxfactor for under £18?!

Posted by Unknown On 12:00 2 comments

I've never been a beauty buff but oh em gee did I find an amazing deal this weekend! I've been using the Maxfactor face finity foundation for the last month and I've had so many compliments from friends about how amazing my skin looks, I've got quite good skin anyway but pre-uni deadlines I had a few breakouts due to stress so went on a hunt for a good concealer when a lovely lady in my local boots pointed out the face finity foundation that is a 3-in-1 primer, concealer and foundation! It was £11.99 for one bottle but I don't mind splashing out on foundation when you know the product is going to be good, and I tend to get new makeup every 2-3 months so it's a bargain in the grand scheme of things!

Well I popped into boots again today to get a top up and decided to try out their powder too as my usual natural collection one was running out. Maxfactor have a deal on in boots at the moment, when you spend over £15 you get a free gift, and I love free things so decided to get the power too at £5.99 bringing my total to £17.98. The gift came in a box the size of a normal hair dye but I didn't think anything of it, thought it would be a few little sample sachets but when I got onto the train home I decided to have a look, and I couldn't believe what was in it! A nail polish, mascara, eye shadow and lip pen! FOR FREE!!! Definitely makes buying the power worthwhile now! I love boots and their deals, I also got 100x points on my card, even better! Can't wait to try these out!

poundland essentials

Posted by Unknown On 17:30 2 comments
Due to my thrifty nature, I can't not go to my local Poundland to check out the bargains before my weekly shop. I am always amazed at what I find, these are just a few items I got recently.

I don't buy alllll my beauty essentials in Poundland but when it comes to deodorant and shower stuff - it's a must. You might have seen my post earlier in the year showing what I picked up and that's had some really good feedback so I'm going to make this a regular thing. There's no point me going into what's what as you can see it in the picture but I am so happy with these little purchases! The get fresh naked body wash is my favourite, sooo smelly (but nice smelly!) and the Pantene nourishing spray is really good on my ends, dip dye has ruined my hair and this really seems to be helping it de-tangle! I also can't believe the price difference between a normal sized bottle of Aussie and TRESemme compared to these travel size ones! I'm forever buying new shampoos and conditioners so these are perfect for me!

Do you shop in Poundland for beauty essentials?

Flower headband - H&M £5.99 (£4.50 w/ staff discount)
I literally can't believe how much I've bought in the last couple of weeks, I don't even want to count after I've told you the prices of each thing, it's so depressing! But I do love all of my new things, *retail therapy* ACTUALLY is my therapy. If I buy something new I instantly feel happier. This year so far I've been quite thrifty and only shopping in charity shops after loving Lucys outfits for so long I was inspired to go and find some of my own little treasures. But here are a few things I've treated myself to "not from charity shops" to recently (not everything, as I've worn quite abit of stuff and it's in the wash!)

bargain beauty post

I'm a self confessed beauty amateur. I read beauty blogs and tutorials on youtube but I still can't bring myself to spend loads of money on hair and beauty products, I buy new make-up every 3 months when my usual stuff runs out, but I won't dare try anything new, even after reading blogs! I don't know what's wrong with me! I'd rather spend my last tenner on a top I don't need...

But yesterday, I popped into town after remembering a post of Zoeys about Poundland Morrocan oil and decided to go on a hunt myself, as all hair and beauty blogs rave about Morrocan argan oil doing wonders to their dry damaged hair. As I'm still rocking the dip die ombre ends (I know, get with the times!) my ends are so dry and it's really been getting me down, my mum is constantly telling me off for choosing Alberto Balsalm over any other shampoo and conditioner just because it's £1 in asda! I haven't been to the hairdressers in over a year aswell, too scared now!

But on my travels into Poundland I was so shocked at what I found...

(L-R)
Mellor and Russell Nourishing Hair Oil (with Argan Oil) - £1
Mellor and Russell Hair repair mask (with Argan Oil) - £1
Derma V10 rescue oil - £1 (similar here)
Systeme pro vitamin 2 in 1 voluminising spray - £1
Toni and Guy frizz smoothing shampoo - £1 (similar here)
Batiste original dry shampoo - £1
Feeling a little under the weather at the moment, think I've got a throat infection, dosed up on aspirin and taking a well deserved rest! In other news, yesterday I helped out my housemate as a model for a test shoot for her FMP based on a makeup theme 'dystopia' you can see her inspiration and mood boards via her pinterest.

NEW URL

Posted by Unknown On 13:29 0 comments
Hi Guys! As of today, I will be changing the name of my URL, I'm not sure how this is going to affect my views/followers but I thought I'd put it out there now!

New url will be missbaigent.blogspot.com

Will probably take me a few days to change everything on every platform but hopefully it will be a smooth transition! I just think it's about time I took my name out of my url and focused on making my blog more of a brand.

P.S Congrats to the winner of my Burberry perfume giveaway Lucy from Fine and Bambi!

MOTHERS DAY

WHAT I GOT MY MUM

Like most mums, mine loves The Body Shop.
I'm always abit overwhelmed by the store in my local shopping centre, so much to see and the lighting doesn't create a good atmosphere for me whilst browsing, really puts me off! not to mention being ignored by the staff on more than three occasions. So I always do my shopping online via the body shop website. I bought her a few things last christmas and had no quarms, apart from the fact the free gift message was addressed to someone called 'Joanne'... I forgave them as it was the festive period and I'm sure they were incredibly busy.
But I got given a list from mama to spend for mothers day this year, not the usual cocoa or sheer butter but instead a collection of Hemp stuff, this isn't exact as the Hemp collection online actually came with a re-usable hemp tin and cost just £16 for all 4 things. I too love the smell of the mango body butter and this was the last 'flavour' she hadn't tried so I'm looking forward to stealing some of that when I'm home! Also the grapeseed glossing serum looks like it could do good things and priced at £7 for a small bottle I should think so too! The nail file isn't a block like that one but has two files and one has a shiny side, I'm rubbish when it comes to beauty stuff so do excuse my terminology! I used a discount code to get 40% off and free delivery, making all this come to just £21.20 a good £12.80 discount!
So I look forward to testing them out with her this weekend, what have you got your mums this Mothers Day?

Is there anything you beauty bloggers would suggest for a new starter like me? I'd quite like to get into all this smelly stuff!

SEA KELP: CAN IT HELP HAIR GROWTH?

Posted by Unknown On 10:00 3 comments
So here's a pretty big picture of my face...

I thought I'd share this portrait pic with you as I'm sporting the if-i-tilt-my-head-my-hair-looks-longer pose. I've been taking my sea kelp tablets quite often lately and they seem to be working, I couldn't tell you for sure if it's actually grown by any cm's but I've noticed my finger nails have strengthened. If you've never heard of sea kelp before, it's a 'good'n natural' herbal tablet derived from seaweed that supports weight management and acts as a food supplement, but has other benefits too such as the reason I'm using it, hair growth! The internet is awash with women claiming it ACTUALLY works and I've had several good reactions with friends trying the product. So I'll continue to use it for a few more months and report back!

*LAST MINUTE STOCKING FILLERS*

Posted by Unknown On 15:00 7 comments
With 5 days (but 4 sleeps) till Christmas Day, am I too late in pronouncing my desired stocking fillers? I think so! With most of our christmas presents already under the tree I can only dream in the form of a Polyvore wishlist. I am in dire need of some new make-up, my Collection 2000 light foundation ran out today after using it for a good 2 months, and I am now having to revert to stealing my mums old Rimmel foundation that hasn't been touched in years! My poor face...

*LAST MINUTE STOCKING FILLERS*

*LAST MINUTE STOCKING FILLERS* by emmalulu41 featuring mac cosmetics

If any of you beautiful beauty bloggers out there have done any reviews (good or bad) on any of the above I'd love to read them! Just leave a comment and a link after this post.
I've heard very good things about some of the items in this selection, so I'm only going on lusting over trusting with this wishlist. I have however tried the TRESemme heat protection spray, courtesy of my mothers dressing table, I recommend it over any of the other heat defence sprays as it does the job and also smells nice, can't go wrong with a scented heat protecting spray! Well done TRESemme.

01. You might have seen my Mac cosmetics interview with professional MUA Naomi Lake here, where I was persuaded into the life of MAC cosmetics, I've yet to part with the cash but I'm hoping someone hears my desperate plea's and puts this 'office hours' longwear blusher in my stocking!
02. The perfume I got for christmas last year ran out shortly after, I think I over used it too quickly, so I'm lusting over some expensive designer spray that I can wear on those 'special' occasions, and I've heard people rooting about Chloe so maybe I'll give it a try? Santa.. baby?
03. You might be thinking, why has she got the Marilyn hair moisturiser for blondes on her wishlist? Well it's because recently I've noticed my ombre has started to go a gingey colour, and I'm lusting over brighter, bleachier ends!
04. I've been using the same makeup bag since Bestival, which was only supposed to be a weekend swap but I've been too lazy to switch back to my old make-up bag which is subsequently covered in powder and mascara lines due to leaks and breakages, so I think it's time for a new one! This cute 'little beauty bag' is simple and chic, and notorious on the market with it's 'little/medium brown bag family', which I have noticed around ALOT lately, therefore fuelling my lust for one.
05. I'm running low on my usual Rimmel brown eyebrow pencil and this Lord and Berry magic eyebrow pencil from ASOS looks fancy and practical with it's built in brush applicator.
06. Believe it or not, I have never used concealer before, I think it's a little girl thing, you usually follow in your mothers makeup bag footsteps, we're both eyeliner addicts and her lack of concealer hand-me-down-ed to my makeup bag, thus me never trying it! But the stupid amount of stress I've been under at uni at the moment has caused me to break out and loose plentiful hours of sleep, so those blemishes and dark circles NEED to be taken care of!
07. Oh Louise Gray, need I say more?
08. I'm lusting after this shade of  cremesheen + Pearl from MAC. I really want a daytime lipstick because my lips get so chapped in the cold, so a bit of colour to add to my lipbalm would suit me perfect.
09. Yankee candles are everywhere on instagram I can't seem to get away, it frustrates me seeing pictures of the festive smellies seeing as I've never owned one myself! This red velvet one caught my eye as I'm in a hungry mood, I'm sure this smells good enough to eat!
10. Naked palette by MAC is everywhere on youtube, I feel foolish for not trying it yet!
11. Barry M glitter nail polishes seem to be instagrammed to buggery recently too so I felt it was necessary to put this on my wishlist!
If I don't get any of these for xmas, which is very unlikely that I will, please comment and let me know which ones I will definitely be trusting over lusting!

HAIR ENVY

C/O @jessicaalba via twitter.com/jessicaalba

Ever since stumbling upon Jessica Alba's twitter profile, I can't stop lusting over her exact hairstyle. My hairs been getting me really down recently, half due to the weather messing up any kind of style I put on it and half due to being impatient with it growing. I swear it hasnt moved a cm in the last 2 months, but hey ho. :(

C/O http://beautiful-pics.org/jessica-alba/

After trawling the internet for more hairspiration from Miss Jessica Alba, I found this lovely picture. My hair is just about this length straight, so I know that if I attempted to curl it this way it would be about 10x shorter, which saddens me. I am useless and totally unfeminine when it comes to my hair, I'd love to be able to sit and spend hours curling, twisting and touselling it but I just can't be bothered. Which is why I adore going to the salon, having someone else do my hair sends me into ecstasy, but I don't think I've been for a good year or so, due to being a poor student and being too embarrassed to front a qualified hairdresser with my do-it-yourself ombre. So when I get my student loan in January, I think I'm going to treat myself to a trip to my local hair stylist and beg her/him to make me look like Jessica Alba. In the mean time, my kind grandmother has bought me the Nicky Clarke mayfair allure straighteners for crimbo, she doesn't know I know yet, so I'll get my surprised face ready for Tuesday.

FIRST VLOG

Posted by Unknown On 13:18 2 comments

I've gone and done something completely crazy and made a video. I've been watching a lot of blogger channels on youtube recently and because I don't have a camera to take outfit posts I thought I'd give vlogging a go just to show you all who I am and what I'm like etc!
Tell me what you think and if you want to see more of them!

*Please don't laugh at my accent or my face... very cringe but I'm sure I'll get used to it at some point!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Posted by Unknown On 18:19 3 comments
If you read my blog regularly then you would of seen my practise halloween look here but as I am so indecisive I sort of changed my idea on the night, I still kept the same concept of having a half zombie/skullface and the other side being normal, I'm not really sure what I was this year as I made a last minute decision to go out, not advised by my physiotherapist but I'm a student and I can't not go out on my last halloween in Southampton! So this is what I wore, I was also makeup artist to my boyfriend for the evening, he wore a green corduroy shirt and based his look on the heath ledger 'joker' from batman, I think I did a good job on his makeup if I do say so myself!
Then comes me, I wasn't 100% satisfied with my outfit because I had originally planned to stay in but last minute adrenaline to music and alcohol made me change my mind, so I opted for the 'slutty zombie' look, wearing:
 Black corset from Primark
Velvet high waisted shorts from Topshop
Henry Holland - House of Holland tights from River Island
(which sadly got ruined thanks to my knee brace velcro)

TRICK OR TREAT

Posted by Unknown On 18:51 0 comments

Here is a quick post to let you guys know i'm still alive... just! I've been practising my halloween makeup tonight (anything to avoid doing my dissertation) I'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to go out or not because of my leg, I've still got another 2 weeks with my cast on but I reckon I could probably pull off being a zombie Wednesday! Not sure if the clubs would let me in with my crutches though... I've seen some amazing halloween makeup so far and it's only the 29th! What are all you guys going as and what do you think of my look?!

MESSY BUN

Posted by Unknown On 15:32 3 comments

So glad that summer is on it's way and the messy bun is in height of fashion, for me it means there's no more of that sweaty neck and worry of strands flying with the wind into your ice cream! I definitely plan to wear my hair up most of the summer, not only will it keep me cool (and look cool ;)) it will stop me from pulling my hair towards my chest in the hope that it will grow, if its up i'm less likely to notice it growing... and then people will start to notice when it's down and fill me with confidence! small things...

HARRODS GLOSSY BOX

Posted by Unknown On 14:30 2 comments
As most of you already know, March edition of Glossybox has teamed up with Harrods (UK department store) to produce 'the perfect box' and I have to say this has definitely been my favourite box so far! You will see why once you scroll down...

Contents: Versace - Vanitas Versace eau de parfum, Bliss - blood orange and white pepper body butter, Revive - Intensite creme lustre SPF30, Lancome - Juicy tubes toffee flavour lipgloss, Clarins - extra firming body cream.

001. BLISS - Blood orange and white pepper body butter. Deeply moisturising, skin softening, naturally rejuvenating body butter in mouth watering blood orange and white pepper. This has got to be my favourite smelling body butter ever! It is quite fruity and zesty and is so smooth on the skin! The sample sizing is quite generous too.

002. LANCOME - Juicy tubes toffee flavour lipgloss. Ultra shiny hydrating lipgloss. I'm not a big fan of lipgloss as my hair is constantly in my face and always gets into a sticky mess so I don't tend to wear it! But I reaaaaally like the smell of this one, toffee has got to be the best flavoured lipgloss, it's so nice I could eat the whole tube! (I wont though)

003. REVIVE - Intensite creme lustre SPF30.  An intense, firming moisturizer that helps to reduce the appearance of sagging skin. Not sure why I was sent this as my skin is still very taute thank you glossybox! But I guess I could pass this on as Mothers Day is coming up...

004. CLARINS - Extra firming body cream. A formula rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts which restore the skins youthful density and elasticity. Again, glossybox, I am not old so therefore don't need these skin tightening creams! However I am a fan of Clarins products and did rinse the day and night samples I got in the January glossybox and they do infact make your skin feel tighter. Can feel another Mothers day gift coming on...

005. VERSACE - Vanitas Versace eau de parfum. A luxurious scent from the House of Versace. Vanitas is a rich and voluptuous fragrance with notes of tiare flower, lime and freesia. I LOVE LOVE, LOVE THIS PERFUME! Definitely my favourite product out of all of the Glossybox's I've had. The sample size is great as you only need one drop for it to fill the room with this lovely smell. Actually considering asking for this perfume for my birthday as I absolutely love it!

FEBRUARY GLOSSYBOX

Posted by Unknown On 16:40 2 comments
Woke up yesterday in the foulest mood, then noticed there were two packages for me at the bottom of the stairs, one being a Topshop package with my Mary Katrantzou top I posted about before, which I wasn't too sure about when I tried on, I think I bought the label rather than the top as it didn't live up to expectation and I think Ill be sending it back, which is a shame! :( But the other delivery was my second instalment from Glossybox! Excited as always I ripped it open and this is what was inside...

And this what I received this month just as last months had run out! A Dr Bronners Organic hand sanitizing spray which smells just like my grandmother did when I was little! I love Lavender. I also got an invigorative shower gel, BECCA lip tint which is really nice actually, I dont usually wear pink lipstick but this is a nice dusty colour and works with my skin tone! The styling treatment oil has ginger extract and smells gorgeous! I havent tried the eye shadow yet but will update next time I go out! Looking forward to next months already...

FIRST GLOSSYBOX

Posted by Unknown On 14:16 2 comments
Bit slow on the uptake but Ive just subscribed to Glossybox, after reading other bloggers review their products I wanted in! A monthly surprise of designer beauty products for only £10 you can't go wrong really! I only subscribed last week and received my first box today, unfortunately I had already seen a blog post about this months box so had a vague idea of what I was getting! But it was still exciting to see them all neatly packaged in a hot pink box with light pink confetti style decoration inside and also a little stick-of-rock type sweetie!

In my box I got an EYEKO Skinny Eyeliner in midnight blue, a CLARINS extra firming night and day cream, a MURAD skin perfecting primer and a FAB gentle body wash!
I have tried the extra firming day cream by CLARINS and no word of a lie my skin actually felt firmer as soon as I applied it! I wasn't sure if I was having an allergic reaction or if it was really working! My skin feels a lot softer and cleaner too.
I was excited to try the MURAD skin perfecting primer as I have never used primer before, I was sent a 'Dewy finish' shade which complimented my skin tone quite well, it gives a nice glow too.
Looking forward to next months box already!
