AC X AG

Posted by Unknown On 22:09 0 comments

Any person with an interest in fashion knows that Alexa Chung IS fashion in human form and anything she does is right, just so right. The all round babe has just recently designed a collection in collaboration with American denim brand AG Jeans. I hadn't heard of them before, but now I want to know them... So I clicked right to it and of course, the price range is totally, completely, 100% out of my budget right now(and for the foreseeable future) as who in the right mind pays ($180 btw) that much for a denim skirt!!?

Anyway, if I had the money, I definitely would, don't get me wrong but... I don't. So as soon as I saw the collection I fast-tracked to my favourite e-tailer ASOS to find a suitable alternative that I knew wouldn't break the bank. And here we have it, ASOS own brand denim button through skirt. A fraction of the price (£28) and is a perfect match! Hurrah, sold. Any other bloggers found alternatives to the collection yet? I'm a fan of the dress (pictured) but left my purse with the $325 in my other bag...

If you've been living under a rock for the past week or generally just want to know more about the collection I've taken the liberty of finding the article that describes it best below...

#LFW Highlights: day three

Nicole Fahri coats never disappoint. This boxy check number with coordinating faux fur collar a perfect transitional piece for the high street. Topshop, Asos, RI? Sure, you'll find this style is absolutely all of them! I'll take it, on the high street budget though.

Topshop Unique look hopeful toward a warm autumn with this pale yellow ensemble. Surprising chiffon like fabrics and a muted palette walked the catwalk with subtle floral inspired motifs. The faux fur snood is a great statement accessory to make the transition from summer outfit to autumn outfit.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label reflected 40's style wartime in passionate red hues, true to Viv's notorious heritage influences it is a clear representation of females from this time period. Pleated skirts will be something I'll be looking out for when buying this summer in rich red's like this collection showcased.

Mary Katrantzou has been a firm favourite since her collaboration with Topshop a couple years back. Her patterns and prints being my favourite, I'll be sure to invest in copies of this style on maxi dresses and sweaters for winter, no doubt this slimline effect of pattern and contrasting colour will be popular on the high street. I may even buy some real Mary Katrantzou one day, it's that beautiful! But for now I'll stick to the bottom of the fashion chain.

#LFW highlights: day two

Posted by Unknown On 18:00 0 comments
Continuing from yesterdays post on my favourite "really Ready-To-Wear" looks from day one of London Fashion Week, I'm doing a 5-day feature of the following days.
Todays post is on day two of London Fashion Week, starting with Jasper Conran and his nude sheer polka dot knee length dress. High street retailers have already started investing in mesh inserts and polka dots were a big trend last season, so will any store/e-retailer dare to bare on their shelves, I'd like to know as I'm definitely interested in wearing!

Orla Kiely's take on winter fashion consists of 60's inspired pea coats, dolly collars and cute cat motifs! I fell in love with this collection after seeing some of my favourite fashion bloggers What's New Pussycatt and The Style Runner presentation posts. My favourite look is this turtleneck sweater, black cropped trousers and t-bar shoes with long socks. With a sweep fringe, this look is extremely 60s!

Sibling AW14 collection featured oversized fedoras throughout, a great accessory I have already invested in! (Thanks ASOS) But what really caught my eye in this collection was the semi see through lace midi skirts. Cobalt blue was a great colourway this current season but unfortunately I didn't get my hands on any, I will definitely be snapping up what I can in the seasonal sales that start soon though!

Antipodium take cullottes onto a new level, adding a velour fabric to the "next big thing" style of trousers set for SS14. These velvet statement trousers look almost like nightwear, worn with the fluffy T-bar sandals this is definitely a look for the wealthiest of bedtime dressers. I wasn't a massive fan of the varsity trend and wear a similar style sweater to bed, so this outfit screams bedtime for me but I can tell retailers will go wild for it.

House of Holland AW14 collection by Henry Holland was definitely in long-term friend Pixie Geldofs "funky offish" instagram category with dresses featuring large appliqued wine glasses with a 60's feel. The long sleeved dress with contrasting turtleneck is definitely a style the retailers will follow, not too different as House of Holland is a much loved brand by its target market.

#LFW highlights: day one

Here is a selection of my personal favorite designers "really Ready-To-Wear" from London Fashion Week, showcasing their AW14 collections. First up on day one is Felder by Felder. I love the angular cut of the top, mesh inserts and cutaway midriffs have been a popular style for high street in previous seasons and this mix-match of textures and colours adds further development to original styles that retailers will take note of, especially Topshop/Zara. My ideal look for a night out!

Christopher Raeburn emits an explorer vibe with this fisherman's hat, backpack and tassel necklace. An oversized jumper / smock dress in fluorescent orange is a much coveted look for me, I will be on the hunt as soon as SS14 is over with (not wishing it away however!) and teamed with black socks and patent boots it's a comfy casj look for perfection.

J. JS Lee smartens up long oversized coats for the winter season in crisp white with added tuxedo style seamlines, giving the most popular style coat of the previous year a fresh and sophisticated form. I will definitely be investing in a long winter coat for AW14 and if retailers have been analyzing the streets like I have they'll definitely invest stocking up too!

Daks take on the metallic blazer is definitely a style I can see ASOS snapping up for the AW14 season. Metallics have been a recurring trend every season for the last few years, so adding this statement blazer to their books would be a good decision. I would definitely consider buying a silver version and teaming it with black cigarette trousers, mid block heel sandals and a silk cami for a dinner date/evening drinks.

instagram crush

We are all guilty of following at least one celebrity on Instagram.
My guilty pleasure recently is Peaches Geldof. I'm one of those annoying fans that likes every single picture in her feed, but to be fair if you follow her too you'll understand why. Apart from the insanely adorable overload of pictures with her son Astala, she uploads few but always flawless pictures of herself. Whether she's with her husband Tom, at an event, on holiday or just a plain old selfie (she even does morning selfies, that's one brave mama!) she always has time to show us what she's up to. And I don't blame her because if I looked as great and glowing as she does, then I would too! It's not only her looks I envy though, it's the life; the husband; the fortune; the glamour; the free Chanel shoes, the famous dad, the cute baby her wardrobe.

How beaut is that jacket? It reminds me of a mix up of the Grease pink ladies bomber and a peacock.

I love everything about this look, if I could pull off hats that would be the first hat on my list. The sophisticated dark grey marl hat contrasts with her blonde bedhead locks, and the mix of grey and black in her scarf and colour sits beautifully on her light coloured fur shoulder and the gold buckle just sets it all off . Argh why can't I be her?!

Proving she is all grown up now in this duck egg blue coat and black turtleneck top, is she setting the one button trend?

The glasses... the bag.. the husband

Well I felt like a right stalker writing that post so I'll leave it at that. Who do you follow? Is there anyone I'm missing out on?
And if you would like to follow Ms Geldof you can via @peachesgeldof on Instagram.

RETROUSSE CLOTHING*

Posted by Unknown On 13:30 7 comments
You may of seen the write up I did for the Retrousse urban clothing brand on my blog earlier this  month, or if you haven't.. here. I absolutely loved the brands concept and craftsmenship, if you visit their website and check out their video you'll understand what I mean. Great creativity has gone into the brand to produce these unique designs. Luckily, the brand reached out to me over twitter and sent me a sample of my favourite tee from the collection as a thank you! Thanks Retrousse!

The Cougar Design

It came in a beautifully packaged paper tissue and calico ribbon which I thought was special and made it personal. I wore it to university the other day with my American Apparel black leggings and creepers with frilly topshop ankle socks, I met my boyfriend after and he has decided he wants it! So has stolen it from me from the time being, I think I may have to purchase another one for a valentines day present...
